Going, going ....

... and soon to be gone!

I've finally bitten the bullet and acquired a domain name and hosting and am spending a lot of time right now putting a website together. I'll be starting a blog on the new site: hopefully the fact that it'll be "my" site will encourage me to use the damned thing a bit more often ... watch this space ;-)

What have I done .....

I created a very basic website - just a home page linking to a gallery - a little more than a year ago, using the free space from my ISP, and told myself I was going to learn HTML and CSS and make a proper website. Did I? Huh, no.

But in a recent fit of displacement activity (amazing what you'll do when work is driving you to distraction ...) I bought myself a domain name and a hosting package. Now I have no excuse. *gulp* I've spent a large part of the past few days banging my head against a brick wall, trying to sort out what I want and how to do it. I told myself I should have done more prep before waving the plastic around but, let's face it, nothing gives me the same incentive as knowing I'm paying for something I can't properly use yet.

Mythical Beasts Part II

I really, really, really hate hypocrites. Even more than simple hypocrites, I detest people who combine the fine art of being disingenuous with their hypocrisy. If you're going to be controversial, expect disagreement. But for goodness' sake don't prevent people who disagree with you from publishing their comments on your blog if you are going to allow comments from people who do agree. Not that, in the instance to which I refer, there are any signs of agreement. And don't try and cover yourselves with a self-serving, facile and transparent phrase which even a third-rate spin-doctor would reject!


Maybe the authors of that blog think their audience is daft enough to equate the (apparent) silence with lack of dissent. In which case, I have some bad news for them .....
